Let's best start our tour at Cannstatt near Stuttgart. Did you know that Europe's second-largest fun fair, the Cannstatter Wasen, takes place here? From late September it's all hustle and bustle on the bank of the Neckar for 16 days, including rustic beer tents, fun rides and plenty of culinary treats from Göckele to cotton candy. Other city events are the Stuttgart Weindorf (wine village) and the Hamburg Fischmarkt. The Christmas market makes for a christmassy end of-the-year atmosphere.
